Thanksgiving Pumpkin Flower Arrangment

We had Thanksgiving at my sister in laws house this year, and at the last minute I thought I would make a little hostess gift to take.  I had a free pumpkin to use and I got some flowers for three bucks and decided to make a little arrangement.

I remember reading in an Etiquette book once that flowers weren't a good hostess gift because the host/hostess has to stop what they are doing in their preparations to find a vase to put them in - so it's kind of a hassle (but, whatever!).  So, I thought by bringing them already in something that would be okay, or if she already had a centerpiece planned for her table she could put it somewhere else in her house.

I just cut open the pumpkin, pulled the guts out, sprinkled the fresh flower pack in, put in a little water, cut of the flowers to the right height and stuck them in the pumpkin!  So easy.

Greenery Wreath

I walked into the florist shop last week and asked if they had any myrtle.  The lady said, "What is myrtle???"  I was confused...  A few moments later I was inside her cooler telling her the name of the greenery in it.  As I left, the owner of the floral shop said, "Don't go telling people that we don't know what we're doing."  I gave a courtesy laugh, and in my head I thought, "You DON'T know what you're doing!"

It was pretty funny, but I came away with some myrtle and I made this wreath for $3.20.  I already had the velvet ribbon so that is not included in the cost.

I turned the greenery above into the wreath below.

Honestly, it didn't work how I thought it would, so it was a little more complicated than I thought it would be, but the end result was the same!

Love!

p.s. My nine year old called this a "Moaning Myrtle" wreath... Harry Potter anyone?

Pink Ombre Flower Arrangement

So, I found this flower arrangement on Pinterest, but I didn't want to spend that much money on a flower arrangement, so I tried to recreate a tiny version of it with just carnations.

I've done this for other flower arrangements before (like HERE), and it is so super easy.

1.  Take the container you are going to use and put some water in it.
2.  Then make a grid out of tape (or chicken wire, whatever).  I used scotch tape, but really tiny strips of duct tape would be stronger.

3.  Put flowers in openings in grid.  You may need more than one flower in each grid to make your flowers close together.

4.  Place your arrangement on your table and enjoy!

Classic Valentine's Day Flower Arrangement

This is an example of my 'go to' flower arrangement or decoration for Valentine's Day. Not really original, but I always love how it looks!
