Protect your tables from your serving platters

In January while communicating back and forth with a client for whom I was catering a reception for, she mentioned her concern about her dining table and my serving dishes scratching them.  I figured a way for them to coexist peacefully!

On the bottom of all my platters I hot glued pieces of felt to where the bottoms of the serving dishes would make contact with the table.  Perfect solution if you don't want to use a table cloth and you still want to protect your tables!  It took a while to do all my platters, but it's worth it in the long run.  They even have stayed place after washing them too.

Fruit Centerpiece

This is a fun centerpiece I did for the serving table for a wedding anniversary party:

Platter instead of Bowl

A while ago, I started serving my salads on a platter instead of in a bowl.

A few reasons why:

1. It looks really pretty.
2. Once a salad is tossed all the toppings go to the bottom of the bowl - when served on a platter you can get a nice balance of toppings and salad.

Salads add pretty color to any meal. (Don't mind my slightly too toasted candied almonds in this picture - I was on the phone with my brother and helping my sister decide where to hang a towl hook at the same time these were on the stove, luckily my uncle saved them before they were all black.)
