A Special Spring Wedding

This past spring my sweet niece (the same niece I helped throw this party for when she turned 16!!! What?!?!?!) got married and I got to help with some of the planning. I'll share a few tidbits from her reception. These fabulous photos were taken by the awesome Marcie Meredith.

I add this picture as a reminder that something will always go wrong at a wedding.  This cake completely collapsed and fell apart.  It's gluten free making it a super moist and light cake.  I literally had to cut out the collapsed part and piece this cake back together.  That's why it looks pretty ugly.  But, it was still super tasty which is all that matters.

Dinner was a buffet of Caesar salad, fruit salad, chicken alfredo, pasta with bolognese sauce, and veggie pesto pasta, with assorted breads

Fall Wedding Ideas

This was a wedding I helped with a couple of weeks ago.  I was in charge of the appetizer spread, cake, cupcakes, and the display of those and the dessert display.  The brides mother did all the flowers you'll see.

I had my dad cut the wooden discs, and then I made them into platters.  I may do a tutorial eventually, or maybe just a post with tips on different ways you can make those.  I tried quite a few different things with making those platters. 

There were two different kinds of cupcakes, Red Velvet and Chocolate.  This was so people could know which cupcakes were which.  So, all the chocolate had the sunflowers on it. 

The cake was a chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.  The brides mother made the floral cake topper to match the brides bouquet.

This was the dessert table.  I only provided the platters.  The brides uncle made all these desserts.

I also did the appetizer spread.  Its becoming my signature and it gets me gigs.  :)

I wish I had gotten more pictures of the whole venue and decorations, but I was so busy setting out the dinner meal, etc. I didn't get a chance!  It was so gorgeous though!!  

Cupcake Toppers on Etsy

The cupcakes I made for the wedding.  I'll post what they looked liked at the wedding tomorrow. 

I recently did a cake and cupcakes for a wedding.  The theme was fall/rustic and she wanted the cupcakes and cake to have her wedding colors.  I prefer to not have dyed frosting and I searched Etsy for some ideas.  I came across these and instead of trying to make them, we just ordered them instead, and I just want to tell you how much I love them!!

I ordered them from this store on Etsy called Nicolettsy.  These are made with gumpaste and are absolutely adorable!

They came packaged like this and only two were broken (and easily repaired! - she included instructions on how to repair them)

I think cake decorating has come a long way since my Grandma's rosettes! There are so many cool things out there you can use now!!  Here are a few more from her Etsy store... She has succulents in her store right now and they are amazing!

Such an easy way to take your cakes and cupcakes to the next level if you are willing to spend a little more money.  I love that there are so many gorgeous options!  I put learning how to make these flowers on my bucket list!
